URL redirections can be classified into two different types, 301 (permanent) and 302 (temporary). These are typically used for sending both visitors and search engines from old pages to new pages, i.e. the transfer of a page to a new address. Reasons can vary greatly, however it's most commonly used when restructuring a website by combining similar pages into one page and keeping the information and value from the original pages.
Search engines apply a value to a each individual page within your website using algorithms based on various factors such as inbound and outbound links. It's important that these established values are passed to a new page, which a correct redirection will do. 301 and 302 redirections are a standard way of telling a search engine that 'this page' has moved to 'this new address', a little like telling the post office you've change your home address.
Current URL

Redirection Types
- 301 Redirect - A permanent redirect, telling the search engines that you are moving the page permanently and they should pass all value from the old URL to the new one and remove it from their index.
- 302 Redirect - A temporary redirection telling search engines you are only moving the page for a while so they shouldn't remove the old page from their index and pass value.
Below, you will now see a list of the redirections in place.
Note: Please note the following rules when redirecting;
- All domains being redirected must be hosted in our servers (delegated)
- You can only do a single redirection of a page, i.e. you cannot redirect a redirected page.
- All pages must remain in the system for the redirection to work, you cannot delete the original page.
- If multiple domains are delegated to the same store, you need to do a separate redirection for each domain.
