If you have sent a real email that has bounced within 10 minutes, it
could be due to an SPF error. SPF issues occur when your email account
is hosted on a different server to your SMTP settings on your email
client. i.e. If you have set your SMTP address to your ISP's but the
email account used is hosted elsewhere, your email will be flagged as
SPF by spam filters. It's possible to add/change the SPF records,
however this is a poor solution as ISP's regularly add or change their
mail server IP's. So it may work part of the time, but it's not full
proof.
To fix this problem, as a first step, contact your ISP and ask them how
they can fix the problem. They may suggest other ports or a work around.
If they suggest adding new SPF records, note the above to them ("It's
possible to add change the SPF records, however this is a poor solution
as ISPs regularly add or change their mail server IP's"). If they are
unable to find a solution with all that in mind, we would suggest
changing who hosts the email account. If you must send over your ISP's
mailserver, then they should also host your email (i.e. mx record
change) This can simply be done via your domain settings page in your
Ashop admin.
Alternatively, you can host your domain and email on the same ISP's mail
server and simply leave the "add to dns" box unchecked from the domain
settings page in your Ashop administration panel. Doing this will allow
you to point your domain to your store using a cname, but run your email
through your ISP to prevent any SPF problems.
